Op 18 February it was time for the second club competition match of this year. Below are the results and a nice report from Koen about his participation.

It was a rainy Sunday morning in the middle of February and a number of people in blue gathered in the Leeuwenhorstbos for the second TVB club competition of the year: of bosloop. Although the weather gods were less kind to us this day, the organization was ready with full enthusiasm to welcome the runners. The course had already been set out in the morning and was slightly shorter than the announced 2km per lap, but that did not spoil the fun..

After a welcome- and an explanation speech from Cees and a presence check from Kees, we as runners were able to line up for the starting signal. Although I had no idea what the route looked like exactly, I was immediately pushed to the front row and after the start signal I formed a small leading group together with Nico and Jesse.. The warnings in advance soon turned out to be not for nothing and towards the first bend it was quite slippery, sliding and avoiding puddles. Where possible I looked for the shoulder to have a little more grip and keep my pace. Throughout the first lap Jesse stayed in my wake, which somewhat forced me to keep the pace high.

When passing the start-finish line, I received the necessary encouragement from the public and with good courage we entered the next round and looked for the best places to put my feet. (lees: least worst). Halfway through the second lap I noticed that Jesse was giving some space. I didn't know if it was tactics or if he actually fired, so I did my best to maintain my pace. Towards the end of the second lap I stepped into a puddle and the mud literally flew around my ears. Luckily it was still raining so it would wash away at least a little. During the third lap I also started to see other runners to run towards. With a thumbs up as I passed, I glided through to the final lap. After another near fall on the last lap, I crossed the finish line after just over half an hour.

Then I joined the organization and spectators for a short discussion and of course to encourage the runners who were still in the race.. Coffee and tea were ready for everyone inside, and after the last runners had crossed the finish line amid loud cheers, the morning slowly came to a close.

Thank you so much to CCCie for the organization and maintaining the atmosphere. Especially on days like these where the weather is a bit bad, these are the reasons to go out anyway. In the end it was Jesse who crossed the finish line first with Harold in second place and Jeroen third!

The next club competition competition is the Run-Bike-Run-Bike op 16 maart.
