Zaterdag 7 July, those for the 5de once organized: Boogies Extreme. Een combinatie van LBL en de Amstel Gold Race. 225 km door de Limburgse heuvels en de Belgische Ardennen. 1 TVB-er (Charles) would together with the bike fit 160 km drive variant. 5 TVB-ers (Ben, Arjan, Martijn, Rens in Lenard) had registered for itself 225 km.Vrijdagmiddag were Ben, Arjan, Rens and Lenard already traveled to Valkenburg. Without traffic jams we arrived around half past seven at the campsite at the top of the Cauberg. The identification tag for the bike was quickly removed (start / finish location was 400 meters) and after the tents were set up, we fell walking down the Cauberg, Valkenburg, looking for a pizzeria for much needed koolhydraten.Na a delicious meal we were around ten-thirty back at camp. Here Are attempted to turn his concurentie prematurely by bedtime everyone to offer Grolsch Cannon. Following this offering, wisely declined to do (tomorrow we had, after all, still a little bike ride) everyone crawled into his sleeping bag. Om 6:00 hours would the alarm gaan.6 am we were woken by rain splashes on the tent. What the &%$$#!!! Friday heard anything differently than Saturday would start with sun until later in the day with occasional rain. Can they really not 12 hours looking ahead? Eventually remained a few drops, and after we had done well with a nice breakfast, we left around 7:10 towards the start / finish locatie.Met Martijn we 7:30 hour agreed, so we were fine on time. Then just a cup of coffee every time to doden.Precies at the appointed time Martijn stood in front of us. In the meantime, we also did see Charles come by and wish him good luck. Around 7:40 We started our tocht.De route ran in a straight line towards the Redoute. Now we would have the chance to drive this slope once with fresh legs, because instead of after 220 km, Now we got him after a good 80 km. And indeed: Redoubt is much tastier with fresh legs. Rens came as happiest above: He had improved his climbing time with a thick minute. But this time the others had remarkably little trouble with the executioner from LBL, so the name was quickly changed to Redoetje. Now the furthest point of the journey was reached, the route turned back to the Netherlands. Mr. Boogerd had done his best with the expansion of the trail because it was nice roads with plenty of fun climbs and descents. What was also known as 'good', was that there were occasionally also beautiful pieces false flat down between the kilometers were so nice and quickly ticked. Na zo'n 160 km was there the second nursing station. Here we were able to refuel for the final. In the finals we got the famous beklimmmingen from the Amstel Gold for our wheels: Camerig, Loorberg, Fromberg, Gulpenerberg, Mount calvary, Eyserbosweg in of Keutenberg. Admiration for Arjan and Martijn which, in contrast to Ben, Rens in Lenard, had not made a lot of training hours. Both came good on the hillsides. Despite being hit to fatigue in Arjan, we reached unscathed (ok; a flat tire) the foot of the Cauberg. The dessert of this trip. On top of the Cauberg we could enjoy a nice beer, but above all a scenic drive. An absolute must for those who like to be in this area want to drive a tour, but want to avoid the mass of Limburg's most beautiful. Finally, the conclusion was that the form is alright: Rens soon for his Tour for Life and Ben and Lenard for their Embrun challenge. None of us need to fear the hills or mountains. And that's quite a nice feeling.
Saluting,
Lenard
A beautiful story of a beautiful journey and a pleasant weekend. We are a richer adventure again
There, next year but then. And better plan than!
Unfortunately I had to cancel at the last minute. I had the legs for it… But after this wonderful story Lenard, I will definitely participate next year!
Nice piece Lennard and indeed again a nice trip with beautiful weather!
Finishen = Winnen!
Such report you'll probably want a nice little bike ride! Preferably with a few big molehills in.
I think I missed something. Maybe next year.
