Zoals je weet heeft Leo tijdens de looptraining op woensdagavond een hartstilstand gekregen. With the help of those present he was resuscitated in which use was made of the AED
the Spartan. Leo is transmitted with a stable heart rhythm and self-contained breathing at the LUMC in Leiden.
As a precaution have kept doctors Leo asleep and reduced his body temperature to around 32 degrees. They do during 24 hours in order to avoid possible neurological damage cq. to limit. During this period they also keep him out of precaution on the ventilator. Since last night about eleven o'clock, the cooling stopped and Leo is working on their own to ensure that he regained his normal body. By now his body temperature is again increased toward the 37 degrees.
The doctors have found that there is accumulation of fluid around the lungs. This could complicate an independent breathing. Before they take him out of his sleep, they first want to further investigate this. For this, a chest x-ray will be made. The expectation now is that it can be achieved in the course of Leo from his sleep today. Below we hopefully know more.
The cause of the cardiac arrest is a narrowing in the coronary arteries. The vein which was the most constricted, Wednesday is already angioplasty. The other cores are treated at a later stage.
